Elliot Post Treatment #12

Elliot's spots are pretty much gone now. I think the blending technique worked pretty good. I can already see a decrease in the blotchiness from previous surgeries. He goes back to the U of M the 2nd Wednesday in November to get treatment #13. I think our plan is to do 2 more full treatments, followed by 2-3 blending treatments before wrapping it up for the initial set of treatments. Of course he will likely need maintenance treatments, but I am very hopeful about the new cream they are doing clinical trials on that will help prevent the vessels from reforming.

We plan on putting Elliot in preschool next Fall so I'd like to stop for a while once that starts. I don't want him to have to deal with treatments during school time for various reasons. This kid has an esteem higher than the Sears Tower and is so lovable and likable: I want him to always hold on to that self esteem. :) Here are a couple photos from the pumpkin patch and geocaching today. Lighting wasn't the best.

Love to Read?

I've been doing this blog for our son Elliot for a couple years now. I finally decided to branch off and create one just for me! :) Reading is my favorite (besides my family) so I created a blog to review books and post other things just about books. If you like to read please check out the blog!

Spots are almost gone because of the lower setting. :-) Much easier healing time this round.

5 days post op

It's been 5 days since Elliot's treatment. Because of the laser being on a lower setting his spots are already fading to a red color, most of the purple is gone.

No scabbing this time. :-)

Post treatment #12

Elliot did great again. No tears! Dr. Orringer decided to do a blending method this time. This uses a bigger laser with a lower setting to blend the lines of the blotchiness. We are going to see how he looks doing this the next couple of times before deciding how to proceed. Unfortunately we have hit a ceiling with the laser levels, below what we were hoping for. His skin can't handle the higher settings.

Here are some pics from the last 2 days.

Elliot's first clipper cut

We decided to take Elliot's hair shorter for summer. :-( Mama has been really sad about it. He is super cute but I miss his hair. This is the last cut he will be getting for quite a while. ;)

27 days post tx #10

Elliot still has some red spots, but they're much lighter. He did not scab this time thankfully.

He has such a great personality. He can make anyone crack up...he's definitely the center of attention in public places!

The picture quality is horrible (no flash on my iPad) but a cute pic regardless. Spots are red, orangey, and yellowish. Healing up wheel, no scrabbling thus far.

I haven't done a post with a before and after from birth to now. So here is a couple pictures so you can tell how much lightening he has had.

3 days post op tx #10

Here is how Elliot's spots are looking this morning. He didn't have much swelling this time.

Treatment #10

On Friday April 12th Elliot had his 10th laser treatment. Alisha (my best friend) had an appt at the U of M for her daughter on Thursday so we decided to stay the night in Ann Arbor. Elliot did great again. He lets everyone check him up with no problems. He weighed a little over 35 lbs and was 37 inches tall. This time Dr. Orringer dialed back the joules because of the scanning last treatment. He also avoided the area that scabbed because there is still some scarring there. His next treatment is scheduled for June. It's going to be hard to do it during the summer but we want to get as much done as we can before he starts school in 2014. Here are the pics of before and after.

One of Elliot and mommy, one of him after his Versed kicked in, and then eating Chipotle after we left. :)

18 days post op

Spots are looking good. Sadly he managed to pick off all his scabs. Hopefully the scarring diminishes with future treatments. He is scheduled on the first Friday of March for his next one.

10 days post op

Elliot still has quite a few spots. He has also scabbed in quite a few places. It looks like we will need to turn the laser back down again for the next treatment. He picked off one of the scabs. :( I've been applying a cream to his face at least 3x daily since the treatment, hoping he didn't scab. His next appointment is scheduled for the first Friday in March.

Treatment #9

Elliot had his ninth tx today at U of M. He was nervous when we got there but snapped around quickly. Doc said he's looking good and.they bumped him up to 14.25 joules. We.are hoping he dooest scab so we can keep increasing.power and getting great.results. I'm posting a before and after shot. :-)
